About this experience
Where is the main church and patriarchal throne in Rome? Where and when was Emperor Constantine baptized along with Roman Christians? Why is Constantine considered equal to the apostles in the Orthodox Church and not even a saint in the Catholic Church? Why did he move the capital from Rome to Constantinople? During the tour, you will learn about this iconic historical figure and explore the early Christian period of the great ancient city.
What to Expect
Throughout his long 30-year reign, Constantine went from being a pagan emperor to a Christian. He spent more than half of this time in Rome, leaving behind numerous monuments. We will walk along the ancient street Via Papalis, connecting the two papal residences of the Vatican and Lateran, to the grand basilica of St. John the Baptist, founded by Constantine himself.
- The walk will start from the center of pagan Rome - the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine.
- We will talk about the Edict of Milan, how and where Christians lived and prayed in Rome before 313 AD.
- On the way, we will visit the ancient basilica of St. Clement, one of the first Christian preachers in the Northern Black Sea region. We will examine the multi-storey building with a complex history - using it as an example, I will introduce you to the architecture of early Christian churches.
- In the Basilica of Quattro Coronati, a functioning monastery in Rome, you will learn about the first Christian martyrs. And if you are lucky, you will see unique Gothic frescoes from the 13th century, associated with the legend of the Donation of Constantine.
- We will also visit the Lateran complex with the oldest baptistery, the Holy Stairs brought by St. Helena from Palestine, and the papal chapel of Sancta Sanctorum. Together, we will admire the main basilica of the Catholic world, founded by Constantine himself in 313 AD.

The tour exceeded all our expectations: depth of knowledge, presentation of material, in...
