What to expect
Opera Garnier and Parisian Boulevards
We will meet at the magnificent Beaux-Arts-style opera house - Opera Garnier. I will tell you about the history and architecture of this building, as well as about the colorful stories in the life of the Opera. You will walk along the picturesque Parisian boulevards, learning about their majestic buildings - it's a true panorama of French architecture from Louis XVI to the Second Empire. This part of the tour also includes the Madeleine church: from its steps, you can see a breathtaking perspective.
Place de la Concorde, Champs-Élysées, and "political Paris"
You will see the National Assembly, numerous ministries, and embassies housed in mansions of the "political" quarter. Explore the ensemble of Place de la Concorde, stroll through the legendary Champs-Élysées, and admire the Grand and Petit Palais. Near the Alexandre III bridge, you will be greeted by a postcard view of the Eiffel Tower, and we will finish at the esplanade of the Invalides - where I will tell you about the fate of this place.
Unusual Corners and the Atmosphere of Paris
You will be charmed by the Parisian courtyards with 19th-century mansions: mostly hidden from prying eyes, but we will definitely visit 2-3 of them. During our walk, I will not only talk about the history and architecture of the iconic landmarks but also about their unusual plots. For example, you will learn why Napoleon III wanted to build a new opera house, why Empress Eugénie could not stand social outings to the opera, and other stories.
