About this experience
We are all familiar with the Soviet cartoon “Bremen Musicians”, but the authors did not take into account several important details related to Bremen. Why did the Grimm brothers choose this city? How did a chicken with chicks affect its foundation? Why is there an invalid's head at the feet of Roland? And why do they respect lazy people here? Get ready to immerse yourself in the local color!
What to expect
Free Hanseatic Bremen
We will start the walk on Zoegerstrasse, which translates to “Pig Street”. Knowing this, you will no longer be surprised by the sculptural group depicting a swineherd with a herd. After getting to know these good neighbors of the Bremen Musicians, we will proceed to the park. Here, standing by the historic mill, you will remember how each of the heroes joined the music ensemble, and at the flower market you will admire charming aromas and take the most romantic photos. Next on our program:
- Gothic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which will delight you with unusual stained glass windows and surprise you with its acoustics.
- Town Hall building and Roland monument, as well as the ancient wine cellar, where according to legend Wilhelm Hauff met with wine spirits.
- The city's landmark— the legendary monument to the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster. I will tell you how to make wishes correctly so that they come true, and then treat you to a sweet surprise!
- A secret hatch— “Bremen Hole”. By throwing a coin inside, you will hear a beautiful melody. And at the site of the execution of the famous criminal Gesche Gottfried, you can follow an unusual ancient city tradition.
- In the Cathedral of St. Peter, in addition to the beautiful architecture, stained glass windows, and organs, you will find a 1200-year-old mouse and figure out how it got there. And you will also hear the story of a roofer who became a mummy!
A Visit to the Fairytale
You will dive into the local color in the Schnoor district, where fairy-tale miniature buildings huddle on narrow streets. We will take a stroll along the waterfront and talk about the Weser River and the history of the port. To conclude, you will explore the Cooper's Lane with brick architecture, where you will see Robinson Crusoe's house with bells made of Meissen porcelain and the famous Bremen lazy people.
