About this experience
The Belém District in Lisbon is located on the other side of the Tagus River, from where brave Portuguese navigators set off in search of new lands during the Age of Discovery. During the journey, I will tell you about the most important historical figures, the peculiarities and customs of Portugal. You will feel the scent of voyages, delve into Lisbon's historical past, and learn how tiny Portugal managed to rule half the world.
What to Expect
Architecture, Museums, and Pasteis de Nata
In Belém, you will encounter astonishing historical monuments! We will visit Belém Tower, which has seen a lot throughout its history. It used to be a military fortification, a prison, a warehouse. You will visit the Jerónimos Monastery, a magnificent example of the unique Portuguese architectural style - Manueline. You will see where the President of Portugal works, as well as the Maritime Museum and the Coach Museum - optionally, you can take a quick look at them. And we will definitely stop by the pastry shop 'Pasteis de Belém' to taste the world-famous pastries with a cup of coffee. You can watch the preparation process through the glass walls. These 'pasteis,' as I call them, are sold everywhere: in supermarkets and in any tiny cafe. But you won't find such delicious ones anywhere else!
To the Christ Statue and to the Center Square
Filled and satisfied, we will drive over the '25th of April' Bridge to the other side of the river - to visit the Christ Statue. We will take the elevator to the base, offering a breathtaking view of the entire city. Your superb photos will amaze all your friends! After that, we will return to the historical center to stroll through the ancient streets and visit squares like Róssio, Restauradores, and Comércio. It is here that the destinies of the people, Lisbon, and the whole of Portugal were decided. In just 4 hours of the tour, you will see all the most important sights in Lisbon. And you will easily be able to continue exploring the city on your own, armed with advice and recommendations.
