You will see the famous Belém Tower and explore the former Hieronymites Monastery. You will also uncover the peculiarities of the ‘Manueline’ architectural style with its stone laceworks and intricate motifs.
What to Expect
Jerónimos Cathedral and Museum
Through the magnificent 16th-century Jerónimos Cathedral, you will decipher the features of the Portuguese architectural style ‘Manueline’. You will also visit the stunning inner courtyard of the cathedral, which has become a separate museum. Appreciate the monastery’s cloister with its intricate arches, play of light and shadows. I will tell you how this magnificence was created and reveal the symbolism of architectural details.
Belém Tower
Belém Tower - a symbol of Lisbon. I will tell you how it was built and how it protected the entrance to the city's port. I will also help you understand its architecture. Patterned turrets, intertwining ropes, knightly crosses, Arabic elements - everything has an explanation. Finally, if you wish, we will visit one of the country's oldest pastry shops, where you can try the famous ‘Pastéis de Belém’.
