About this experience
Armenia's mountain landscapes consist of ridges, high plateaus, and deep canyons. They are worth seeing with your own eyes! During the hike up Mount Eranos (1823 m), I will introduce you to the inhabitants of the plant and animal kingdoms. I will point out where to find captivating panoramas and the best spots for a photo shoot. After the tour, you will receive vibrant pictures to remember the adventure.
What to Expect
Summit Ascent
- Our thrilling journey will start at the basalt columns known as the 'Symphony of Stones.' These hexagonal formations emerged after lava solidification and represent a unique phenomenon seen only in a few corners of our planet.
- The trail will lead us to a place where we will ford a river (the water is cold all year round). From here, our ascent to Mount Eranos will begin.
- Along the way, we will admire panoramas and take pictures. I will tell you about the surrounding mountains and the territory of the Khosrov Forest Reserve.
- Once we reach the summit of the mountain, which rises 1823 meters above sea level, we will witness the majestic Ararat, the Azat Reservoir, and picturesque hills listed in UNESCO's World Heritage.
Route Parameters
From the perspective of mountaineering and mountain tourism, Eranos cannot be considered a challenging mountain. We will climb to the top along a fairly gentle slope. However, it is essential to consider that the path is quite long, and there are scarce water sources along the way. The route's length is 22 km, with an elevation gain of approximately 1000 m. The ascent and descent will take the whole day. Participation in the trek is recommended for physically fit travelers.
Organizational Details
- The price includes a photo shoot on a smartphone. If you wish to use professional equipment, an additional fee of 35 euros is required (please inform me of your choice when booking).
- Bring a headgear, warm sweater, windproof jacket, and raincoat. A headlamp and trekking poles will also come in handy. Ensure an adequate supply of drinking water as it can only be replenished at the start of the route.
