About this experience
The city as a habitat becomes a place for creativity for humans. Madrid got a new face thanks to unknown artists, designers, and street musicians. They are sensitive to any cultural and political changes to immediately take them into account to create alternative works of art in contrast to official ones. I will guide you through the two most creative districts of the center, show you unique 'street canvases,' and help interpret them.
Program
Street art in Spanish sounds like 'Arte Callejero.' This is a gallery where the exhibition constantly changes, and masterpieces live right on the streets. You can see them on walls, in parks, meet them at city festivals, and find them in deserted galleries. It is important to see them today because tomorrow these pieces of the city canvas will be taken by others. Many who started as unknown artists on the streets of Madrid are now exhibited in prestigious galleries and work around the world, here are just a few of them: San, Suso33, E1000ink, Borondo... I will not only show you where the works of street artists are located but also explain the meaning they put into their works.
During the tour, you will see the neighborhoods of La Latina and Lavapiés, where contemporary creative life is concentrated, and where, among other things, there is an informal cultural center, many small shops, bars, and galleries. It is especially pleasant to walk there after you have already visited the historic center and the main attractions to see how diverse and contrasting the Spanish capital can be.
Thus, you will get acquainted with the alternative culture of Madrid, its most creative districts, and see what the life of modern Spanish street artists and designers is filled with.
