You will learn how the tiny state was formed and how it managed to maintain its independence over many centuries. You will see all the iconic places of San Marino: the Government Palace, Freedom Square, the medieval towers of Guaita, Cesta, and Montale. You will also visit the cathedral where the remains of Saint Marino are kept. I will tell you about the peculiarities of the republic's political life, why it is governed by two Captains Regent, and when elections are held.
San Marino Today
You will explore not only the historical but also the modern attractions of San Marino: the sculpture commemorating the Beslan tragedy and the monument dedicated to the crossbowmen who defended the independence of the state. Finally, you will learn why San Marino became a tax-free zone and indulge in shopping in the numerous stores on the picturesque hilly streets.
