Vatican - center of religion, history and art
About this experience
I usually start my tour of the Vatican with the question: 'What would you most like to see?'. Those who come for the first time can expect an exciting introduction to the best places of the city-state. For curious minds - immersion in the history, symbolism, and mysteries of the Vatican. Art connoisseurs will learn about world masterpieces. Special approach for children! And I will also advise on how to deal with ticket purchases.
What to expect
The Vatican is not only the smallest state in the world, but also one of the greatest and most mysterious. I will gladly be your guide and assistant in exploring it! I will lead you through the centuries, tell you about incredible events that took place on this holy land, and share curious stories and anecdotes:
- why the mighty power of the Catholic Church is concentrated on this tiny piece of land
- why the dome of St. Peter's Basilica has a name
- how to properly view the Sistine Chapel
- how the election of a new Pope takes place and where you can meet him
Organizational details
- I can organize a visit to the Vatican 'turnkey' for you, including transfer from the airport, meeting at the hotel, choosing and booking a restaurant, etc. Details and cost of the service should be clarified when booking.
- Entrance tickets to the Vatican are not included in the tour price (20 euros/person - purchase on site, 25 euros/person - online)
Ticket purchase procedure
- To avoid long queues, I recommend purchasing entrance tickets in advance on the official online platform.
- They can also be purchased on site, at museum ticket offices. However, this will require waiting in the general queue.
- Pre-purchased tickets will allow you to go directly to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, as well as enter St. Peter's Basilica without waiting in line (if it is open at the time of your visit)
- The guide does not need a ticket, access is granted through a special license
Visiting rules
- You will need to have your documents with you - starting from 2024, all Vatican tickets are strictly personal, purchased for a specific day and time, non-refundable, and usually not exchangeable.
- You will need to dress accordingly - shoulders, knees, and abdomen must be covered; it is especially important to remember this rule in warm weather
- Headphones are mandatory in the Basilica (the guide will have a microphone) if there are more than four people; the cost of renting them is 1.5 euros per person.
