About this experience
The Rose Valley connects the villages of Goreme and Cavusin, so starting the route from one place, we will end up in another. We will have to cover 5 km. Along the way, we will visit 3 churches from the Byzantine period and conclude the journey by observing the sunset surrounded by pink rocks, which acquire incredible shades at sunset.
What to expect
- Ortahisar Fortress. One of the most beautiful places in Cappadocia, offering a breathtaking view and where you can have a cup of coffee in a lavender café.
- Rose Valley. It got its name because of the color of the rocks, which look particularly charming at sunset. We will come back here again!
- Grape Church. You will see various frescoes and learn their meanings.
- Church with a cross. The images preserved on the walls will tell you about the life of Jesus Christ.
- Church with columns. I won't reveal all the secrets, but the history of this sanctuary will amaze you!
You will learn:
- How the rocks were formed and why they have such a shape
- How the locals live and what they do
- What functions the Cappadocian fortresses served
- And also about the history of the region, religion, and churches in the valley
After completing the walking route, a driver will meet us and take us back to where our journey began - the Rose Valley. Here we will watch the sunset. Believe me, you have never seen such beauty before! There are many cozy cafes in this place, and if you wish, you can order a cup of Turkish coffee.
Who is this route suitable for
This excursion is for those who love active leisure and are ready to walk a lot. If you have young children, it might be challenging for them to walk 5 km. I recommend wearing sports shoes, bringing a hat, and sunscreen.
