Ruin bars are a brand of Budapest that most travelers are only superficially familiar with. On my tour, you will dive headfirst into the city's alternative culture: explore secret pubs, marvel at unconventional facts about Budapest, try a cocktail invented by a physicist, and experience the cream of Hungarian street art.
What to Expect
Bar-Hopping in the Heart of the City
I will help you look at the underground culture from within: we will stroll through the ruin pubs of the Jewish Quarter, bypassing mainstream places like Gozhdu Udvar or Aquarium. You will learn to distinguish courtyard bars from garden bars, discover how these establishments appeared on the streets of Budapest, and appreciate the cult Hungarian drinks: from the fröccs cocktail, based on a physicist's invention, to the herbal liqueur Unicum.
About Budapest in the Language of Street Art
Along the way, we will encounter extraordinary graffiti and murals, without which the image of the Hungarian capital is now impossible to imagine. You will explore urban street art in all its manifestations, from murals to Space Invaders. The invention of the Rubik's Cube, sports victories, the 1956 revolution, the most unusual party in the EU, and a two-tailed dog—all these stories will provide a new perspective on Budapest's history.
Extraordinary Stories
I have long been collecting curious facts about Budapest and am happy to share the best 'exhibits' from my collection. No wandering through historical milestones—instead, we will discuss why Budapest can be called the European Hollywood, why the local housing and communal services alongside the plumber also include a piano tuner, and talk about the details that make the Hungarian capital unlike any other city in the world.

- The price of the tour includes 2 Hungarian alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks of your choice
- Every night in the Jewish Quarter, there are several musical events, from techno to jazz. Depending on your preferences, I will select a final destination where you can continue the evening in a fun way.
