About this experience
This is a trek through a real tropical forest to the cape with a view unique to the island. Due to the sharp wind, 'shaving' the slopes, there is no lush, typical Thai vegetation here. I will guide you along paths only locals walk. Along the way, I will tell you about everything I know and have experienced in my 8 years of living in a Thai family.
What to expect
- We start at Karon View Point. This is the hallmark of Phuket, an observation deck from which you can see 3 southern beaches of the island.
- We will walk through a tropical forest with agricultural land plots. See if you can distinguish them from pristine Thai nature. Not all travelers can do this.
- After half an hour, we will reach the Black Rock viewpoint with huge volcanic boulders at the very top of the cape. Enjoy the views in solitude with nature (there are actually no crowds of tourists here) and take some photos.
- We will head through the tropical forest again, this time truly untouched by humans. Along the way, we will see a hermit's house and possibly the owner - a friendly Thai grandfather. We will greet and smile at each other.
- 30 minutes of walking, and we'll be at the edge of Laem Krating Cape. In Thai, 'krating' means 'bison.' Perhaps the cape was named so because of its resemblance to the animal. The landscape of this place is unique for Phuket. The constant 'shaving' wind leaves no chance for typical Thai plants; only low grass covering the slopes can withstand it.
- A steep descent from the mountain to the sea, and we will find ourselves on the beach, the only one in Phuket where live colorful corals have been preserved.
Throughout the trek, we will be going downhill, but still consider your strength - we will walk 3 km on foot. The tour can be organized early in the morning or closer to sunset. In any case, you are guaranteed stunning views, strong emotions, and a sense of pride for completing the route.
Most interesting facts about Thais and Thailand
Our walk will be accompanied by fascinating conversations. I have been living in a Thai family for about 8 years, so I can tell you about the daily life, cuisine, education, and much more in this country. I always enjoy answering all questions. I love Thailand and Phuket, in particular, and strive to convey this love and interest to travelers on excursions.
