About this experience
Naples is a city where it is incredibly pleasant to get lost. Everything here is surprisingly aesthetic: lace made of stone, small churches with a long history, narrow alleys and the spirit of time. Perhaps that is why the city is so loved for filming on celluloid - it conveys all the shades of its charm no worse than a random traveler's glance. Trust this perspective, walk with me through the bright places of the city, and you will not only satisfy your inner sense of beauty, but also get acquainted with Neapolitan gastronomic preferences.
What to expect
Charm of the historical center
You will stroll through the narrow decumani and cardines (and find out what they are), and we will talk about the very foundation of the city by the Greeks, about the period of Roman domination, and about what Naples can tell us about the past today. We will stop at the Sanservo mansion, belonging to Prince Raimondo di Sangro, to take a look at the magnificent San Domenico Maggiore square. I will tell you who the famous prince was, what the history of the mysterious Sansevero Chapel is, and why the mansion is called cursed. And in the church of Gesù Nuovo, we will talk about the beloved Neapolitan saint Giuseppe Moscati.
Atmosphere of Naples
Everyone who comes to Naples should definitely get acquainted with its symbol and the main character of the comedy of masks in its southern version - Pulcinella, whose nose you can rub for good luck. You will remember episodes from movies related to the city, where Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni played, learn the legend of the miracles of Saint Gennaro's blood, and see modern graffiti and old workshops of Neapolitan craftsmen. And finally, you will have a cup of strong espresso in the Neapolitan way, try rum baba, limoncello liqueur, and, if you wish, the famous Margherita pizza.
