What to expect
Opéra Garnier and Avenue de l'Opéra
The tour will start at Opéra Garnier - one of the symbols of Paris in the second half of the 19th century. We will discuss in details the construction of the building and the people who visited it. Then we will walk along the Avenue de l'Opéra, embodying the imperial glory of the French capital. You will learn to understand the peculiarities of Parisian architecture and hear stories about the residents of different floors. On Avenue de l'Opéra, we will reach the Louvre, where we will remember the French kings who loved art so much that they amassed one of the largest collections in the world. I will tell you why the Louvre is now associated with the famous glass Pyramid, even though it appeared only a few decades ago.
New Bridge and Eiffel Tower
Did you know that Paris was the first city in Europe adapted for long walks? I will show you the bridge where this glorious tradition was born and reveal whose money built it. The new bridge remained the social center of Paris life until the 19th century when the title of the main city symbol was taken over by the Eiffel Tower. While you enjoy the view of the city from the bridge, I will tell you about this 'first lady of Paris': why the tower became the most visited in the world and what interesting stories are related to its construction.
Notre-Dame de Paris and Old Royal Palace
The tour will continue along the banks of the Seine, where we will admire the view of the Old Royal Palace and the most beautiful clock in the city. Next, I will show you the Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris and explain why in the Middle Ages pilgrims from distant countries walked to it. You will see the cathedral from several sides, learn about the features of its exterior, recent fire, and restoration projects.
