About this experience
St. Peter's Basilica is an outstanding monument of history, architecture, and religion. On this individual tour, I want its grandeur and power to be fully revealed to you - I will tell you about the significance and construction of the largest basilica in the world, about the stunning legacy of the papal Rome era and great creators that has amazed visitors to the basilica for centuries.
Program
- History of the Basilica Our tour will start at St. Peter's Square. While waiting in line to enter, I will tell you the history of the Basilica: when and what prompted its construction, who participated in the construction, and which people influenced the fate of the Basilica; how and in what stages the facade and bell tower were built, about their design and significance.
- Papal Rome Inside the largest Catholic basilica, you will be amazed by its power, magnificence, scale, and uniqueness. I will tell you about the period of papal rule: about the famous Bernini family, about the partnerships of popes with brilliant artists and sculptors, whose outstanding works have amazed people for centuries, such as Michelangelo's statue "Pieta" (Lamentation of Christ), which still sets the standard for all iconography; the 29-meter bronze baldachin by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Michelangelo Buonarroti's brilliant design under the dome.
- St. Peter's Square When we exit the Basilica and find ourselves back at the square, I will tell you its history. Why it took over 100 years to build, what makes its objects remarkable. And also about the apostle Peter - who he was and what his life was like.

I really enjoyed the tour with the wonderful guide Vita! It was in a lively communication format, not a boring presentation of historical facts! We visited all the interesting places and corners of the magnificent Cathedral, learned a lot of interesting things, discussed mysterious topics, and enjoy...
