About this experience
You will visit three completely different cities, each revealing the beauty and historical richness of Tunisia in its own way. In Sidi Bou Said, you will learn about the mystery of doors and taste tea prepared according to a 300-year-old recipe. At Zaghouan, you will explore the ruins of the aqueduct that supplied Carthage with water. And in Takrouna, you will get acquainted with the lifestyle of Andalusian Berbers who have remained faithful to their traditions.
What to Expect
Sidi Bou Said - a city that defines Tunisia
First, you will visit the famous city of doors and flowers, writers and poets, narrow streets, and the magnificent sea. Strolling among the blue and white houses framed by lush greenery, you will learn about the daily life of the locals, the mystery of the unique doors, and the famous movies filmed here. Immerse yourself in the creative atmosphere of Sidi Bou Said, where someone is always painting, having a photoshoot, or performing street concerts. You will admire the Tunis Bay and, if desired, taste traditional Tunisian green tea with cedar nuts, prepared in a local cafe for over 300 years. And in the end, you will realize that they say: 'If you haven't visited this city, you haven't been to Tunisia!'.
Antique Heritage of Zaghouan
Next, you will head to Mount Zaghouan, located 70 km from the capital. In the national park, you will see the famous Water Temple, or the Temple of Poseidon, with the longest aqueduct in ancient times. I will tell you about how drinking water was supplied for a whole 137 kilometers to Carthage and what statues adorned the structure. From the mountain, you will enjoy a magnificent view of the lake and surroundings.
Berber town on Mount Takrouna
Finally, you will visit another mountain where a city founded in the 16th century by Berbers from Andalusia is situated. In a traditional house, you will get to know the life of people who have almost not changed their traditions in the 21st century and have preserved the ancient way of life. You will learn how carpets are woven according to ancient canons, bread is baked in a tandoor, what they believe in, and how they perceive happiness. And, of course, from the height, you will discover new panoramas of the surroundings and inspiring landscapes of olive groves.
