About this experience
In the modern resort town, you can still trace the features of an ancient trade and military port - the city that witnessed legendary Hellenes, Romans, and even Cleopatra. During the tour, you will explore the monuments of that era and hear interesting facts from the history of Side. Additionally, you will visit the brink of the Manavgat River, resembling a heavenly waterfall.
What to Expect
Echoes of Classical Antiquity
The brightest attractions of that time - the Temple of Apollo and the Amphitheater from the 2nd century BC. You will see the surviving facade of the sanctuary built in honor of the ancient Greek sun god and arts patron. You will also see an impressive arena for gladiatorial battles, where about 20,000 people could watch simultaneously! The amphitheater still boasts good acoustics, and the upper tiers offer beautiful panoramas of the surroundings.
During the walk, you will learn about the founding of the city and the meaning of its name, imagine how often it changed hands. Also, you will hear fascinating facts from its history: we will talk about how Mark Aurelius, Cleopatra, and two great generals - Alexander the Great and Hannibal - are remembered here.
Manavgat Waterfall
In the second part of the tour, you will visit a charming corner in the vicinity of Side. This is the brink of the Manavgat River - its width is 40 meters, and its height reaches 2 meters, hence it is called the waterfall. Every year, millions of people come here to admire the river’s mountain streams and take unforgettable pictures against the breathtaking landscapes. Now you will be able to capture this magical sight too!
