About this experience
In the modern resort town, you can still see traces of the ancient trading and military port - a city that witnessed legendary Hellenes, Romans, and even Cleopatra. During the tour, you will explore the monuments of that era and hear interesting facts from the history of Side. Additionally, you will visit the Manavgat River threshold, resembling a paradise waterfall.
What to Expect
Echoes of Classical Antiquity
The brightest landmarks of that time - the Temple of Apollo and the Amphitheater of the 2nd century BC. You will see the surviving facade of the sanctuary built in honor of the ancient Greek sun god and arts patron. As well as an impressive arena for gladiator battles, which could accommodate about 20,000 people at the same time! The amphitheater still has good acoustics, and from the upper spectator stands, beautiful panoramas of the surroundings open up.
During the walk, you will learn about the founding of the city, the meaning of its name, how often it changed hands. You will also hear fascinating facts from its history: we will talk about what Mark Aurelius, Cleopatra, and two great military leaders - Alexander the Great and Hannibal - were remembered for here.
Manavgat Waterfall
In the second part of the tour, you will visit a charming corner in the surroundings of Side. This is the threshold of the Manavgat River - its width is 40 meters, and its height reaches 2 meters, hence it is called a waterfall. Millions of people come here every year to admire the mountain river streams and take unforgettable photos against the backdrop of breathtaking landscapes. You can now capture this magical sight as well!
