About this experience
We will explore the green heart of Valencia - Turia Park, built on the site of the Turia River. We will not only talk about the history of Valencia and the purpose of its ancient Serranos towers but also admire the lush vegetation, walk along the seven bridges, and discuss their differences. And also - be amazed by trees shaped like bottles, enjoy the aroma of thousands of flowers, and take colorful photos.
What to Expect
- Begin the walk at the defensive Serranos towers - a late Gothic monument. You will learn about their construction and uses in different eras, including during the Civil War when Valencia briefly became the Spanish capital.
- Stroll along Turia Park - the largest in Valencia, built on the dried-up riverbed. We will discuss why the park might not have existed and what was planned in its place.
- Pay attention to the seven bridges. We will talk about the history of medieval bridges - Serranos, Trinidad, Royal, and Sea. And the modern ones - Wooden, Exhibition Bridge, and Flower Bridge. You will find out which one is considered the most expensive to maintain.
- Examine the marble sculptures on the Trinidad, Royal, and Sea bridges.
- Enjoy the unusual bottle-shaped trees, brightly blooming oleanders, and the lush variety in which the Flower Bridge is immersed.
- Near the Sea Bridge, surrounded by palm trees and water, you can have a colorful photoshoot.
