What to Expect
Inside Topkapi Palace
In the historic Sultanahmet district, you will visit Topkapi Palace. Over 400 years, 24 Ottoman rulers have lived here. Learn what the word 'topkapi' translates to, how long it took to build the palace, and the architectural styles dominating it. Walk through the halls and admire the magnificent interiors that are the pride of Turkish sultans. You will also see antique decorations of noble persons, thrones covered in gold, and silver kitchenware.
Dolmabahce: the world of luxury on the Bosphorus shore
By tram, we will move to another colorful district - Besiktas. Here, you will see Dolmabahce Palace, where six last Ottoman sultans and Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the first President of Turkey, lived and worked. In the palace's elegant halls, I will show you paintings by Aivazovsky, the world's largest crystal chandelier, and the harem overlooking the picturesque Bosphorus. Additionally, I will decipher the purpose of different rooms and the symbolism of interior details.
