About this experience
On the tour with me, you will see Brussels as a Flemish medieval city with incredibly beautiful Gothic churches and town halls, or as a new kingdom with magnificent classical palaces, or as a modern capital of the European Union and NATO headquarters.
Brussels is very diverse. How will you see it? As a city of kings, monarchy, and palaces? As a city with a stunning thousand-year history? Or as the capital of Europe, where not the fate of individuals, but whole states are decided today. Or maybe just as a place where the sweet smell of Belgian waffles hangs in the air, where it's nice to drink delicious Belgian beer, eat mussels with fries, and enjoy Belgian chocolate for dessert. I want to show you all the diversity of Brussels!
What to expect
- During a walking tour, we will visit the Lower Medieval City and see the most beautiful square in Europe, Grand'Place, with its amazing ensemble of guild houses, the Town Hall, and the King's House.
- We'll greet the "Peeing Boy" and his girlfriend Jeanneke-Pis. We will walk through the famous Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert to the Royal Theatre and the Stock Exchange, look into the "Belly of Brussels," and then pass by the Spanish Square to the cathedral.
- Leaving the Lower City, we will ascend to the Upper City - the city of Kings and nobility. Here, I will show you the Royal Palace, the Parliament, the palaces of princes and dukes, the Sablon district, and the largest building of the Court of Justice in Europe.
- We will visit the Hill of Arts, where many important royal museums of Brussels are concentrated.
- Of course, I will recommend where you can have a snack or a hearty meal. Where in one of the old taverns you can drink Trappist beer made by the hands of monks, or find your favorite beer among 700 varieties of Belgian beer, including cherry, apricot, raspberry, apple, or banana.
- And finally, to complete the picture and be able to say "Yes, we know this city!" I will tell you about the Belgians, their habits, traditions, preferences, what neighbors - the French or the Dutch - say about them.
