About this experience
If you are tired of the noise, pollution, and tourist crowds in the center of Paris — welcome to a pleasant and unforgettable walk in 'Little Versailles', as the French have long called the Saint-Cloud park — the former residence of kings. This park is located just 7 km from the Eiffel Tower.
Program
During our walk, you will breathe fresh air filled with the scents of blooming lime trees and rose bushes of Marie Antoinette in the famous royal park, and enjoy a view of Paris from a 100-meter hill on the banks of the Seine River!
I will tell you about the picturesque small town of Saint-Cloud, adjacent to the royal park, introduce you to the history of this place, and take you on a tour of the picturesque city center with stunning views of Paris, where you can take wonderful panoramic photos.
We will visit the Saint-Cloud church, where the miraculous relics of Saint Cloudaud are kept. The colorful stained glass windows and carved wooden sculptures in the neo-Gothic style will impress you with their sophistication.
I will tell you about the brother of Louis XIV, famous for his scandalous spicy stories and grand feasts he organized at the Saint-Cloud palace, and guide you through the secret corners of the royal park with stunning sculptures.
We will walk together through the main staircase and inner courtyard of the royal palace, where festivities and celebrations were held in the era of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette.
You will also see examples of French and English park architecture with your own eyes. I will introduce you to the visual perspective optical tricks of the famous court park architect Le Nôtre.
We will see a unique hydraulic structure of extraordinary beauty — the Grand Cascade fountain, built in the 17th century! And if we are lucky, we may witness an unforgettable water show with our own eyes.
On the remnants of the large pediment of the main facade of the 17th century palace, lost in the park, you will discover a sculpture bearing a remarkable resemblance to a great Russian poet!
