About this experience
Get to know the capital of Finland and learn the most important about Finnish culture! You will visit the Market Square, see the Cathedral, hear about the Clock Tower at the main railway station, and try products at the Old Market, where a uniquely calm atmosphere is preserved. In addition to the main attractions, I will show you lesser-known but equally interesting places, talk about the past and present of the city, recommend where to spend free time and eat well.
What to Expect
Iconic Places
You will definitely visit Market and Senate Squares, admire Uspenski and Cathedral Cathedrals and hear stories associated with these attractions. We will walk through underground passages and see how the metro works in the city, and if you wish, visit the underground museum. You will visit the railway station and try to understand whether the development of the railway was a way out of the economic crisis. You will see "invisible" monuments, decode the inscriptions on them, and learn why they are installed on bridges. See the city symbol - Havis Amanda fountain, hear its story and understand how it is connected with student life.
Life of the Finns
You will learn about the history of the city and the country, get acquainted with traditions and family life. I will talk about the heroes of the Finnish national epic Kalevala, about the Moomin trolls and the cats guarding Helsinki. I will break stereotypes: about the Vikings, who never lived in Finland, about the ban on alcohol, which we have never had, and that the Finnish people are evil and gloomy - everything is completely opposite!
Market and Seafood
To taste Helsinki, we will visit the main covered market and the Market Square. You will try some traditional Finnish delicacies and, if desired, visit a seafood delicatessen store.
