About this experience
This journey to the Mekong River Delta will leave unforgettable impressions. You will learn about the huge importance of the river for the local residents, immerse yourself in the colorful peasant life, observe the activities of southerners, appreciate their traditional cuisine and folklore.
Program
- You will see the waters of the mighty Mekong River, providing locals with almost everything they need: water for irrigating rice fields, fish for food, rich nutritious clay from the riverbed used for fertilizing fruit orchards, and sand from the riverbed for construction purposes.
- We will visit the famous Dong Tam snake farm, where venomous cobras and vipers are bred for the production of antidotes and medicinal preparations for the treatment of many diseases. Nowadays, the farm area resembles more of a small zoo, showcasing many species of animals and birds inhabiting the Indochinese Peninsula.
- We will observe the production of traditional sweets in this region - primarily famous for its coconut candies - and try them.
- We will explore the architecture and decoration of a traditional house surrounded by a fragrant garden with fruit trees.
- And during lunch, we will try the famous 'elephant ear fish' and other traditional dishes of the region.
To move around the village, we will use a traditional cart, and for navigating the shady narrow channels, a paddle boat.
