About this experience
The Underwater Museum is perhaps the most interesting attraction in Cancun. At a depth of 2 to 10 meters, 400 realistic human figures are displayed. This museum is a unique call to protect the fragile ecosystem of coral reefs. Today, its statues have become a new home for marine inhabitants. During the program, you will learn to manage underwater gear, dive underwater, and explore this mysterious place that combines natural beauty and human talent.
What to expect
Handmade Reef
Creating this museum, its author - Jason Taylor - wanted to bring the sandy bottom to life, divert attention from the natural reef, and create an artificial one on which corals could grow. Your dive will be accompanied by fish, lobsters, and other marine creatures who have already taken a liking to the sculptures of this exhibition called 'Silent Evolution'. Like an ancient civilization that has sunk to the bottom, it tells the story of peoples, from the Maya to our time.
How it works
The program is divided into three modules. The first one is theoretical: you will get acquainted with special equipment and diving techniques. In the second module, you will practice diving skills in a pool, learn to work with a regulator and mask, try swimming in water. The third module is an excursion in the open sea. On a large comfortable boat, you will head to the 'entrance' of the museum. As part of a group of 4 people and one instructor, you will descend to the depth and be able to explore its exhibits.
