Ravenna is a mosaic paradise on earth. Behind the walls of the gloomy early Christian temples lies a truly magical world. The shimmer of gold, the shine of silver, pomegranate iridescences, and the expressiveness of ultramarine. You will learn how the legendary mosaic carpets were created, decipher the meanings embedded in them, and receive an incredible aesthetic pleasure.
What to expect
We will visit five UNESCO-protected monuments: the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Basilica of San Vitale, the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, the Neon Baptistery, and the Chapel of Sant'Andrea. We will also see Dante's tomb. I will tell you:
