About this experience
A city of music and art, picturesque landscapes, medieval atmosphere, Italian provincial romance, and architectural masterpieces. All of this is Bergamo, located just an hour's drive from Milan. In half a day, I will introduce you to the city's landmarks - monuments, temples, and works of art. And from the observation deck, you will enjoy a wonderful panorama of the surroundings.
What to expect
- Discover Bergamo's border and trade history. Find out how the Upper and Lower Towns, which are so different from each other, were formed. And immerse yourself in the medieval era of the City of 100 Towers.
- Bergamo is a city of music. We will see the theater, a monument, and visit the grave sites of composers Donizetti and Mayer.
- Bergamo is a city of art. We will admire the works of Lotto, Tiepolo, Vela, Fantoni, Manzu, and Campionone.
- Visit the Colleoni Chapel, where we will talk about the Captain-General of the Venetian Republic and how luck favored him in life and death. And on the chapel's facade, a valuable example of Renaissance architecture, we will try to read the life of the famous architect Antonio Amadeo.
- The Bergamasques are people of word, and the church of Santa Maria Maggiore is proof of this. We will visit it to learn about the Baroque style, Tuscan and Flemish tapestries, and the old frescoes that have been preserved.
- The Cathedral will reveal its famous paintings and chapel dedicated to Pope Giovanni XXIII - the pride of the locals.
- I will also tell you about the mysterious stories that the squares of Bergamo hold.
- And strolling along the Venetian walls, you will see the structure of the Lower Town, and, if you're lucky, the Apennines and Milan.
