About this experience
If you have already explored the ancient Egyptian heritage in Giza and Luxor, it's time to discover the less known but fascinating monuments. The second largest temple in Ancient Egypt, Edfu, stands out with its grandeur and good preservation. You will appreciate the scale of this structure before we head to the temple of the crocodile god in Kom Ombo.
What to Expect
We will visit two temples of Hellenistic Egypt. You will learn more about this period and the Ptolemaic dynasty.
Edfu Temple. We will reach it in about 1.5 hours. This temple is dedicated to the falcon god Horus, the protector of royal power and the son of Isis and Osiris. Built between 237 and 57 BC, it is considered the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt.
Kom Ombo Temple. We will drive to Aswan, where an unusual sanctuary overlooking the Nile is located. It is a double temple dedicated to both Horus (falcon) and Sobek (crocodile).
