About this experience
The Lycian region of Turkey is full of mysteries: a civilization that emerged from unknown origins and vanished into eternity just as unexpectedly. Join me on a one-day journey tracing the footsteps of the ancients. Starting from Fethiye, we will head towards Kas, taking a detour to discover a secret trail unknown even to locals, where we will find artefacts from the past. Then, we will explore the town itself and admire its colorful Greek streets.
What to Expect
Refresh on the Lycian Way
In total, we will drive 300 km along the scenic roads of the Lycian Peninsula. Departing from Fethiye in the morning, we will make a brief stop for panoramic views over Kalkan and Kaputas Beach along the way. The landscapes we will pass by are so beautiful that they demand a mandatory photo stop.
Passing by Kas (don't worry, we will return soon), we will stop in an authentic village from where we will follow goat trails to reach one of the most mysterious sections of the Lycian Way. Even locals are unaware of this trail, but traces of the Lycian civilization are abundant here. I call this path the Shaman Trail: for 2.5 hours, we will walk through pristine forests, connect with nature, solve the riddles left by the ancients, and make a wish at an ancient well.
Exploring Kas
It's time to return to the real world. Ahead lies an introduction to Kas – one of the most beautiful towns on the coast. We will stroll through the colorful streets with Greek architecture, visit the famous Lion's Tomb with Lycian inscriptions, and wander around the ancient theater with a breathtaking view of the sea and the city. If desired, we can allocate some time for shopping.
