About this experience
In Paris, there is a district where every corner seems to be from the pages of a magical fairy tale. And right nearby is a picturesque palace. Despite the luxury, with me you will feel at home. We will walk through hidden streets and courtyards, feel like regulars at the flea market, and travel back and forth between the past and the future.
What to expect
Treasure Hunt
Our meeting will start at the world's largest antique market. It is a true paradise for collectors and enthusiasts of antiquities. Here you can find art objects, furniture, jewelry, books, and much more. Famous decorators and interior designers come here in search of masterpieces. Depending on your goals and preferences, I will create a perfect route for you at the market.
- By moving from one stall to another, you will travel from the 18th century to the 20th and back.
- We will visit both famous art galleries and secret warehouses of antique furniture, where there is a chance to find a rare treasure at a good price.
- I will tell you about the most famous market stores, French furniture styles and techniques of manufacturing, silverware, porcelain, and the art of table setting.
- If needed, I will help you navigate the purchase selection and negotiate with the seller.
After a short break, we will head to Malmaison Palace, where many personal belongings of Napoleon and Josephine are kept: furniture, toiletries, jewelry, and clothing. You will learn:
- how Napoleon and Josephine met, how their relationship began, why Napoleon's family did not accept his beloved;
- what led to their divorce, how they lived apart, and the touching letters they wrote to each other;
- about the couple's family traditions and hobbies, fashion and gastronomy of the early 18th century, as well as etiquette, balls, and receptions organized by Josephine;
- about the magnificent English garden of the empress and how she managed to immortalize her name in it.
