About this experience
Travel through time and visit four historical eras. Find yourself on the Roman Forum, move to the Middle Ages with its austere towers and strict palaces, admire the elegance of Venetian style, and appreciate the rationalism of the 1930s. You will feel the millennia-old history of Brescia in the form of its beautiful squares, ancient palaces, and numerous churches.
What to expect
Walking tour of the city squares
Four main squares of Brescia: Piazza del Foro, Piazza Paolo VI, Piazza Loggia, and Piazza Vittoria, so close in distance and yet so far from each other in their appearance and style. You will take an interesting walk through the historic center of the city and see its main monuments: the Roman Capitolium, two main cathedrals, the Old and New Duomo, the Loggia Palace, the Broletto Palace, the first skyscraper in Italy. 'Brescia is a bit of Milan, a bit of Venice, and a bit of Rome,' I once heard. After walking through its squares, you will understand why such an opinion arose. Sending photos to friends taken on Piazza del Foro, you will receive 'Are you in Rome?!' in response, and when you find yourself on Piazza Loggia, you will involuntarily recall the Venetian Piazza San Marco.
Signature aperitif on Duomo Square
Brescia is the only city in Italy where two cathedrals – the Old and New Duomo – stand side by side on one square. Sitting at a table in one of the bars on Duomo Square and ordering a glass of the famous Brescian aperitif 'Pirlo,' you can once again leisurely admire the facade of the New Duomo, the medieval tower Pegol, marble fountains, the round stone walls of the Romanesque Old Duomo, and feel the atmosphere, beauty, and harmony of this ancient Lombard city.
