About this experience
Dubai is not just skyscrapers, advanced technologies, and grandeur. In the largest city in the UAE, there are corners where you will feel the Arabic flavor: low-rise architecture, shops with traditional products, a water walk on a wooden boat... You will visit the Shindagha and Bastakiya quarters, see the oldest building in Dubai, and immerse yourself in the city's history.
What to Expect
A Different Dubai
🔸 First, we will take a walk along the Creek Canal promenade and the old residential quarter - Shindagha. Here you will feel the Arabic atmosphere on cozy streets with 'sand-colored' buildings.
🔸 You will see how the sheikhs lived 120 years ago, as we will visit Sheikh Saeed's House - the grandfather of the current emirate ruler. You will explore the interior of the house and a small exhibition dedicated to the city's development, pearl fishing, shipbuilding, and more.
🔸 We will definitely visit the Old Market: you will examine and, if desired, purchase various goods, spices, and herbs, while I will tell you about local trade.
🔸 Of course, we will not miss Dubai's oldest building - the majestic Al Fahidi Fort, once protecting the city's residents from Bedouin raids. It is currently closed for reconstruction, so we will limit ourselves to an external inspection.
🔸 We will visit another old quarter - Bastakiya, where you will admire traditional dwellings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
🔸 The highlight of our walk will be a one-hour trip on a historic abra boat along the canal. You will see Dubai neighborhoods from a new perspective.
Organizational Details

- The walking part of the tour takes about 2.5 hours, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
- The boat trip lasts approximately an hour, and it can be chilly on the water, so please consider this when choosing your clothing.
