Azerbaijani Bath Traditions

About special rituals and philosophies that go back centuries. About the attention given to researching the healing properties of bath procedures for the body and soul. We will also talk about the ancient traditions of visiting baths when residents of Baku went to the same bathhouse their whole life, and about the culture of modern hammams.
History of Baku Baths
Among the architectural masterpieces, parks, and reserves of the city, there are incredible bathhouse structures. You will learn about the famous baths of Aga Mikaila, Gadji Gaiba, Kasum Bek, and the Shirvanshahs' Palace. I will tell you about the technology of establishing complexes, the principles of their layout, and the choice of a suitable location. You will also see medieval bath attributes – special footwear and accessories.
A Place to Relax Body and Soul
In one of the operating ancient baths, you will undergo traditional procedures, immerse yourself in bath etiquette, which has its own rules, topics for conversation, and manner of communication. Experienced bath attendants will provide a massage and even tell fortunes if you wish. Then you will be treated to aromatic Azerbaijani tea with unusual preserves. As a result, you will not only receive a lot of positive emotions, relax, and improve your body, but also gain experience from another country's bath experience, and perhaps make new friends.
