In the outskirts of the bustling tourist center of Bodrum, you feel like entering a different world. Nobody is in a hurry - yet everything is in its place. Life flows peacefully and unhurriedly - while pulsating with energy and rapid development. These and other mysteries of Turkish customs and traditions await us on the journey through the bays around Bodrum.
In the villages of southwestern Turkey, you will discover traditional crafts, pristine nature, and ancient mysteries. The traces of ancient settlements, olive groves, marine and mountain landscapes - it is better to see all this once than hear about it a hundred times.
Stories from rural Turkey
- Exploring the traditions of olive oil production, we will head to the village Yalıciftlik. For the local population, olive cultivation is primarily a family business that unites several generations of farmers. You will enjoy the view of the olive groves and the farm, learn about the varieties of oil and its beneficial properties.
- In the neighboring village of Yatırım, we will visit the village square, historical houses, and the weaving workshop "Yatırım Carpet." This is where traditional Milas carpets with unique motifs are born. We will talk about the stories hidden behind the colors and patterns of the carpets and how local craftswomen keep the production secrets.
- Before lunch, we will visit the village Pinara Leblon to see a winery. Local wine is produced the same way as 5000 years ago: without yeast, tannins, or nitrogen compounds. During the tasting, you will try 2 types of wine, cheese, and seasonal fruits.
