About this experience
This is one of my favorite routes, filled with history, beauty, and stories! Against the backdrop of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn views, the summer palace in a picturesque park, the streets of Karaköy and Ortaköy neighborhoods will bring to life the weekdays of the sultans. You will learn about reforms and the harem, hear interesting stories not found in guidebooks, and dispel myths from Turkish series.
What to Expect
A Beautiful Non-trivial Route
We will meet at one of the busiest places in Istanbul - near the Galata Bridge. You will observe fishermen, take photos of ubiquitous seagulls, and imagine how the bridge looked before. During the walk, we will pass through the Karaköy district to Ortaköy - and believe me, you will not confuse them :) Along the way, I will show you non-touristic viewing platforms with impressive panoramas of the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus bay. Lastly, we will admire the aerial mosque that the sultan ordered to be built on the water.
History in Colors
My author's route will immerse you in the history of the Ottoman Empire - I will tell you about events from the 16th to the 19th century inclusively, up to the last sultan, engagingly and understandably. We will talk about the real stories of characters with fans of the series 'Sultan of My Heart.' And football fans will hear interesting facts about the rivalry of Turkish teams as we pass by the stadium.
We will continue the theme of the sultans' lives in a beautiful park with a waterfall. Walking the same paths where the rulers of the Ottoman Empire strolled, you will learn about state reforms and the secrets of the sultan's backstage. At the summer palace, we will relax in the open-air restaurant. You will taste dishes cooked according to old recipes - in this magnificent place, the prices are very pleasant.
