History and architecture of the main attractions
Located in the 3rd and 4th arrondissements of Paris, the Marais district stretches from the Seine to the Place de la République. Take a walk through its atmospheric lanes, admiring splendid mansions in classical style and their elegant facades. The excursion program includes:
- Ancient Place Grève, where offenders were executed from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution.
- Musée Carnavalet - you will admire two 16th-century mansions, Carnavalet and Le Peletier de Saint Fargeau, and learn about the museum's collection.
- Hôtel de Sens - a rare surviving example of civil architecture from the 15th century in Paris, associated with the stories of archbishops.
- Medieval fortress wall, built by order of King Louis-Philippe in the 12th century before the Crusades.
- Place des Vosges - an elegant place that will charm you with restaurants under vaulted galleries and introduce you to the architecture of the time of Louis XIII.
- Former Jesuit Church of St. Paul and St. Louis, where you will learn about its fate and examine the facade in classical style.
- Rohan Mansion - the most luxurious mansion in Marais, built for the Rohan cardinals.
