What to Expect
2 options for half-day (5-6 hours) excursions to choose from
1- Principality of Monaco and village of Eze
You will visit the tiny state of Monaco, stretched along the sea for only 4 km, symbolizing glamour and luxury. During the excursion, you will see the old historical Monaco and the new Monte Carlo. In the old town, I will tell you the history of the Grimaldi dynasty, you will see their palace and the changing of the guard, optionally visit the ceremonial apartments. I will lead you through the old streets of Monaco, show you the Oceanographic Museum and the cathedral-tomb of the Grimaldi, where Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier are buried. Then, along the Formula 1 track, we will head to the modern part of the principality - Monte Carlo, with high-rise buildings and fashionable hotels. Here you will see the famous Monte Carlo Casino, the Opera House, prestigious restaurants offering breathtaking views of the sea and the yacht port. After visiting Monaco, you will visit one of the most picturesque corners of the French Riviera - the village of Eze, where branches of the perfume manufacturers Fragonard and Galimard are located.
2- Cannes, ancient Antibes, and the city of arts
You will start this excursion by visiting Cannes - the city of international film festivals, an expensive resort with iconic hotels Majestic, Carlton, and Martinez. You will walk along the famous Croisette Boulevard and, of course, see the famous Palais des Festivals. I will also show you the old part of the city - the Suquet district with its winding streets, market, and restaurants. From the Middle Ages, the 14th-century tower remains, and from the Renaissance - the church Notre-Dame de l'Espérance. The Russian presence in Cannes is marked by the Cathedral of Archangel Michael with the tomb of the grand dukes, and the name of the boulevard - Alexander III. You will admire its impressive blue dome. Then we will go to Antibes - an ancient port city with a rich history associated with many prominent figures such as Garibaldi (their castle stands right on the seashore), Napoleon, Russian grand dukes, writers, and artists - Picasso, Maupassant, Nicolas de Stael. Now the city has the image of a millionaires' city - here on Cape Antibes are their magnificent villas. I will show you not only these luxurious buildings but also the largest yacht port in Europe. Finally, you will visit Saint-Paul-de-Vence - a picturesque village on top of a hill with many galleries. It is a city of art and artists, whose streets remember Marc Chagall, Cocteau, Yves Montand, and Simone Signoret. You will walk along the main street of the city, visit the 12-17th century church. On the tiny cemetery of Saint Paul, I will show you the tomb of Marc Chagall and his wife. As well as the legendary hotel-restaurant Golden Dove, where all the celebrities have stayed.
