You will visit beautiful waterfalls, ride elephants or ostriches, learn about the peculiarities of Vietnamese Buddhism at the Chuk Lam monastery, and see the huge statue of Sitting Buddha. Wander through the labyrinths of the extraordinary Crazy House designed by Mrs. Hang Nga and discover the incredibly intricate art of silk embroidery.
What to Expect
'Little Paris'
On the way to Dalat, you will learn about the life and history of the young city, built during the French colonization as a refuge from the summer heat of Saigon. I will tell you about the main attractions of the 'City of Eternal Spring', its unique climate, and natural features that attract both locals and travelers.
The beauty of Dalat waterfalls
The program includes two waterfalls: Datanla and Pongour. You will admire picturesque cascades, stroll through beautiful landscapes, and have the opportunity to ride elephants and ostriches (for an additional fee).
Buddhist temples
Next, you will visit the Chuk Lam monastery on Tuyen Lam Lake, which translates to 'inner peace'. Being here, you will understand that the name fully corresponds to the atmosphere of the place: a temple surrounded by a pine forest, on the shore of a reservoir, creating a calming impression. At one of Vietnam's largest Zen monasteries, you will learn about the specifics of this religious direction. Then, visit a small temple where, at the highest point of Dalat, there is a 24-meter tall statue of Sitting Buddha.
Whimsical architecture of 'Crazy House'
Speaking of architecture, this extraordinary hotel is perhaps one of the symbols of Dalat. Incredible interweaving of roots and branches, labyrinths, and stairs have turned this place into a real fairy tale. Exploring the details of this colorful building, you will learn about the project's author - Mrs. Hang Nga, the daughter of the Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who lived and studied in Russia for 14 years. You will also get a view of the surroundings from a local observation deck.
Silk factory
After lunch at a local establishment, you will visit a small silk factory, where you will get acquainted with the works of local embroidery craftswomen. Here, you will learn about the complex technique of embroidering with silk threads, which takes 5 years to master - imagine, creating one piece of art requires years of hard work!
