About this experience
To see the shuttle Atlantis, which has traveled nearly 200 million km, touch moon rock, walk under the giant Saturn V rocket - these are not scenes from a new Nolan movie, but real moments of our day at the NASA Space Center. We will unfold the entire space journey before us: from the first launches to Elon Musk's daring ideas. And even those steps that humanity has yet to take!
What to expect
The NASA Center is divided into pavilions and open spaces, we will visit the main ones:
Heroes and Legends Pavilion: here I will introduce you to the first steps of Americans in space - the Mercury and Gemini programs. We will visit the preserved flight control room, the Astronaut Hall of Fame, and the immersive show.
Bus tour of the NASA center grounds. You will see the Vehicle Assembly Building - the largest single-story building in the world. We will look at crawler transporters, launch pads, and other facilities for spaceflight preparations. The center is active, so we cannot know in advance what we will see live!
Apollo/Saturn V Center, where the largest and most powerful rocket ever created is located. And also - lunar rovers, command, service, and lunar modules of the Apollo spacecraft. An immersive show will transport us back to 1968 right in the center of the Apollo 8 launch.
Space Shuttle Atlantis: one of the three shuttles that completed a 30-year flight program in 2011. We will touch on the tragic history of the Challenger and Columbia shuttles, see a model of the Hubble telescope, and be able to observe in real-time what is happening on the ISS.
Gateway Complex - here we will witness the latest steps of humanity in space exploration. We will examine the creations of Elon Musk's SpaceX - the Falcon 9 rocket and the Dragon spacecraft. And also Orion, thanks to which humanity will soon return to the moon.
Among other things, we will discuss:
- how the American space program started and evolved
- the space and Earth rivalry between the USSR and the USA
- whether Americans have been to the moon
- the achievements and plans of SpaceX and other private companies in space exploration
