About this experience
Jaipur is the capital of the ancient and colorful state of Rajasthan. I will show you its main attractions: Amber Fort, luxurious palaces, and the observatory. I will tell you about the life of the maharajas and royal family members here, why all the buildings in the historic center are pink, and other interesting facts.
What to Expect
- Amber Fort - you will explore the honey-colored palace-fortress, picturesquely situated on a rocky hill. You can climb to it by car or elephant. I will reveal the unique features of the fort's architecture and tell you about the events that took place there.
- City Palace - a colorful complex consisting of charming inner courtyards, gardens, and various museums. You will learn how it was constructed and expanded over the centuries.
- Water Palace - you will see the romantic palace built in the center of the lake. And I will share its history with you.
- Observatory - we will visit the 18th-century observatory and talk about its creator, the famous astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh. You will learn how eclipses are calculated here, how forecasts are made, and how star positions are measured. You will also see sundials that determine time with an accuracy of 2 seconds.
- Wind Palace - Jaipur's iconic landmark. I will explain why there are so many windows in the palace and what their main function is.
If desired, at the end we can visit craft shops and appreciate the skill of the local craftsmen.
Organizational Details
- The tour takes place in a comfortable car with an experienced driver and a Russian-speaking guide.
- Midway through the tour, we will stop for lunch. Food and drinks are paid for separately.
- Entrance tickets are not included in the price: Amber Fort - 600 rupees, City Palace - 700 rupees, Observatory - 250 rupees, elephant ride (optional) - 1500 rupees for 1-2 people.
