About this experience
This magnificent Georgian mansion with picturesque park is also known for the collection of paintings by outstanding artists such as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Hals. You will explore the rooms and masterpieces of painting, while I will tell you about the life of the grandchildren of Nicholas I and Alexander Pushkin, the reformer of English law and the head of the 'Guinness' brand.
What to expect
In 1928, the estate became a public art museum. Since then, the original interiors and stunning collection of world-class artworks have been available for free to all visitors.
I will guide you through the residence and tell you about its connection with the judge and reformer William Murray and the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. How Prince Mikhail Mikhailovich, a grandson of Nicholas I, and Countess de Torby, a granddaughter of Pushkin, lived here. And what request the last owner of the estate, Edward Cecil Guinness, left for the people of Great Britain.
You will understand who the characters are depicted in the paintings and learn about the authors and owners of these collections. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of high society life of the 18-19th centuries with balls, lavish receptions, and visits from British monarchs. At the end of the tour, you will stroll through the picturesque garden and, if you wish, have a cup of tea in a cozy cafe.
