About this experience
I offer to stroll through Paris, taking a mobile phone or a black-and-white film camera in hand, and walk the paths of past century photographers. With architecture enthusiasts, we will head to La Défense to practice capturing the futuristic landscape of the future, and with authentic Paris lovers - to Marais and the colorful Île Saint-Louis.
Paris has always been beloved by the greatest masters of photography: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Willy Ronis, Robert Doisneau, André Kertész, Izis - these are just some of the names that immortalized Paris in frames. The thing is, this city is simply made for black-and-white photography and incredibly photogenic in any weather.
Program
For many years, I taught black-and-white photography at the top Paris photography school, Icart-photo. Working with analog photography is both a passion and a profession for me - each frame is unique and irreplaceable, that's the magic of film. I also use this approach when shooting on a phone.
We will start our walk at a cafe in the center of Paris. For inspiration, I will show you the works of great French photographers and my students. And then we will set off on our journey.
I have two verified routes. With architecture enthusiasts, we will head to the La Défense district - an ultramodern business district just 10 minutes from the Arc de Triomphe, it is true music in architecture. Reflections in skyscrapers, arches, bridges, intertwining of lines and shapes - the landscape of the future. This area is interesting to shoot both during the day and at night. After the shoot, you can visit the top floor of one of the skyscrapers in a restaurant courtyard under a glass dome, have a fruit cocktail or Italian coffee.
The second route is for lovers of authentic Paris and its inhabitants. The Marais district and Île Saint-Louis - the oldest and smallest island in Paris - are the heart of the city for me. The island's embankments are beloved by Parisians, romantic couples and elderly gentlemen in canotiers can become our models. If you do not like to shoot street scenes and people, you will like, for example, massive doors with gilded huge handles. By the way, here you can buy the most famous Parisian ice cream, made right on the spot. And when we get tired of taking photos, we can buy a couple of glasses of wine and go to the main bridge - in summer, jazz is played here every evening. So, good music and a romantic atmosphere of old black-and-white films are guaranteed for you.
In short, I will gladly share with you my love for black-and-white photography, ice cream and Paris. Sharing what you love is always easy and pleasant.
