What to expect
Diaghilev and Paris: a revolutionary duo
How did a self-taught critic from the Russian Empire grow into a cult impresario and brilliant producer who influenced world fashion, music, art, and, of course, ballet? To understand this, we will trace the history of Diaghilev and his path in Paris: visit famous theaters, exhibition halls, luxurious restaurants, and places our hero frequented. And of course, we will talk about the revolution that the 'Russian Seasons' brought to the world of art.
We will also stroll through the addresses of Diaghilev's friends, without whom he could not have entered history as an innovator of the 'Belle Époque' of France. On our walk, we will encounter dozens of characters who are indispensable to world history and art, including:
- Young Pablo Picasso and his first studio-apartment;
- Russian genius Leon Bakst, who revolutionized Parisian fashion and set the Eastern trend in Europe;
- Anna Pavlova and her troupe on the Olympia stage;
- The most luxurious theater in the French capital - the Grand Opera;
- The grand World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 and the most beautiful bridge in the city;
- Coco Chanel and her first flagship store;
- The pioneers of fashion in the 'a la russe' style - Prince Felix Yusupov and Grand Duchess Maria Romanova;
- The most popular French salon of Countess Greffuel and much, much more.
What we will encounter on the way: the Alexander III Bridge, the Grand and Petit Palaces, the Champs-Elysees, the Grand Opera, the Boulevard Osman and Parisian income-generating houses.
