Multifaceted Georgian Cuisine
About this experience
Getting to know Tbilisi will take on a completely different meaning if you pay close attention to the culinary culture of Georgia. It is impossible to resist its aromas, colors, and flavors, and it is easy to get lost in the abundance of options. I will create an individual program for you with unique restaurants, cozy cafes, and wine cellars. I will tell you about the history, dining traditions, and main dishes that Georgian cuisine is proud of. I will also introduce you to the main attractions of the Old Town.
What to Expect
Delicious breakfast and conversations about culinary traditions
We will meet near your place of stay and head to a cozy cafe, where over a fragrant and hearty breakfast, I will talk about the gastronomic preferences of modern Georgians and their ancestors, and the culinary traditions of one of the oldest cuisines in the world. You will learn what a real satsivi is, how to eat mamaliga, what utensils are used for kharcho, the differences in khachapuri in different regions of Georgia, and which one is the most difficult to prepare. For example, you will discover that besides sulguni cheese, we have about 250 varieties of cheese!
Walk around Tiflis
The tour will leisurely continue through old Tbilisi—you will walk through Abanotubani—the district of sulfur baths, where I will tell you about the emergence of the city. You will hear the story of the Sioni Cathedral, where the main relic of Georgia is kept—the cross of St. Nino. You will visit the oldest of the surviving temples in Tbilisi, Anchiskhati. Enjoying the panoramas of the Narikala Fortress, you will learn about the centuries-old companion and witness of Tbilisi's fate. You will visit the puppet theater of Rezo Gabriadze and get acquainted with the authentic architecture of Tbilisi houses. And then I will suggest visiting one of the numerous wine cellars, where over tastings we will continue the conversation about Georgian wine.
Lastly, I will share recommendations on the best restaurants in the capital and provide tips on selecting dishes that will last you for many days ahead. I will also teach you how to navigate buying churchkhela, spices, and cheese.
Organizational Details
- The program is completely individual and is based on your tastes and preferences.

This is not quite the culinary tour I'm used to. This is an interesting city tour with a story about Georgian food.

The format of the walk does not imply receiving a large amount of structured information about the city, but it suited us very well. The only thing we didn't like at the Tamara restaurant where we had lu...
