About this experience
Tea plantations, mountainous terrain with waterfalls, cave temple, a massive colonial-era railway bridge, and a train ride - our journey to Ella will be filled with these and much more. I will take care of your comfort and ensure you are not hungry, so all you have to do is enjoy the incredible landscapes and colorful architecture of Sri Lanka!
What to expect
We have a very busy day ahead, so we depart at night to fit everything in. I can pick you up from different cities (see the list and departure times in the organizational details). Along the way, you can get some sleep.
Our itinerary
09:00 - Nine Arches Bridge, the largest in Sri Lanka.
11:00 - Visit to tea plantations, where some consider the world's best tea is grown.
11:40 - Train ride from Demodara to Bandarawela station, showcasing the local nature: mountain rivers, parks, waterfalls.
12:50 - Visit to a tea shop and tea tasting in Bandarawela.
13:40 - Dova Monastery with a giant rock statue of Buddha and a cave temple - I will share its dark history with you.
14:00 - Easy hike to Little Adam's Peak for mountain views.
15:30 - Lunch: Sri Lankan and European buffet and a viewpoint at a restaurant.
16:30 - Ella Waterfall: bathing and feeding monkeys - you will learn the story from the epic 'Ramayana' associated with this place.
21:00–00:00 - Return to the hotels.
Organizational details
You can take breakfast (lunch packet) with you. You can order it at your hotel reception one day before departure. For example, if departure is at 3:00 AM, prepare the lunch packet by 2:50 AM.
