About this experience
Istanbul is an atmospheric and multifaceted city, interesting not only for adults but also for children. I suggest getting away from the hustle and bustle that fills the main streets and squares of the Turkish capital. I will introduce you to the colorful places of the Asian part of Istanbul. We will visit the Caricature House, the Gazhane Museum-Park, and the districts of Rasimpasha and Yeldermany.
What to Expect
Caricature House (Karikatur Evi). We will find it in a restored ancient mansion built in 1906. We will meet the characters of Turkish caricatures and examine interesting sculptures.
19th-century Mosque and narrow streets of Hasanpasha. The district received its name from the mosque. From the historical heritage, here preserved are temples and scattered two-storey houses (köşk). We will immerse ourselves in the relaxing atmosphere of the neighborhood and try fragrant pastries at a local bakery.
Ottoman cuisine restaurant. I will show you a cozy establishment with a variety of dishes to cater to all tastes, from diverse soups, kebabs, and cutlets to vegetarian snacks in olive oil.
Gazhane Museum-Park. It is a cultural center and art space created on the site of an old factory. Here you will find a Climate Museum, a library, an interactive scientific center for children where everything is allowed to touch, feel, and press. Children can run around or ride a scooter on the large park grounds, while adults can visit the contemporary art gallery.
Sogutlucesme Mosque (1963) - a relatively modern interpretation of famous Ottoman mosques with underground parking and a small number of shops offering local products.
Rasimpasha and Yeldeirmany - colorful and less-known districts among tourists. Their narrow streets successfully combine historical buildings, modern boutiques, and cafes. Here you will also find an active Greek Orthodox church (1926) and the Catholic Cathedral of Notre Dame du Rosaire (1895), which houses a cultural center. Street art enthusiasts will appreciate the work of young artists whose creations adorn many buildings here.
Kadikoy Pier will conclude our walk. From here, you can enjoy wonderful views of the European part of Istanbul and the Haydarpasa Railway Station.
