About this experience
The idea of going on an excursion with children always raises the question: 'won't they get bored?' I am a mom myself, so I understand this concern very well! In 2.5 hours, I will show you a side of Madrid that will be interesting for both kids and adults. You will solve the riddle of the city's main symbol - the brown bear and its strawberry tree; make a wish at a magical place from which all roads in Spain diverge; hear legends about the headless ghost and hidden treasure. And at the end, you will see how aromatic churros are prepared and taste pastries with excellent hot chocolate.
What to Expect
'Hobbled' symbol of Madrid
We will start, of course, with the main 'guardian' of the city - the bear at the strawberry tree. I will tell you about the different versions of its origin, the mystery of the peculiar plant that has no relation to either strawberries, trees, or even Madrid, and share the secret of why the symbolic beast's paw and tail are rubbed. By the way, the bear with the tree is not the only one in Madrid, and along the way, we will try to find where his 'limping' brothers 'live'.
Secret nooks and fairy tales
Exiting from the central square of Madrid, Puerta del Sol, you will be able to make a cherished wish at Spain's zero kilometer, and I will tell you about an interesting tradition associated with the country's main clock. In one mysterious place, I will show you the smallest monument in Madrid and the home of the local 'tooth fairy'. Near the Royal Palace, I will teach you how to determine if the King of Spain is there. And we will also check if there is an exit from the green labyrinths of the Sabatini Gardens. All this time, you will be accompanied by Spanish legends and fairy tales about the headless ghost, the court architect, the enchanted king, and hidden treasures.
Sweet stop
In a cozy family cafe, you will not only taste the famous Spanish pastry churros with hot chocolate, but also learn how this delicious dessert is made. And if there are any ice cream lovers among you, I will recommend a place where it is made in a traditional way at their own factory.
