About this experience
Prepare for a one-day time travel journey! First, we will explore the daily life of an Ancient Egyptian, visit a wealthy home, and stroll through a local market. Then, we will transport ourselves to the Middle Ages: climb to the top of the Cairo Citadel and step inside the famous Alabaster Mosque. And finally, witness the iconic Pyramids of Giza with your own eyes and unravel the boundary between our world and the ancient world.
What to Expect
Pharaonic Village
Get ready for a time travel journey! At Cairo's pier, you will board a floating amphitheater that will take you to the shores of the Pharaonic Village. You will see how its residents cultivate the land, bake clay pottery, fish, send off their deceased loved ones, and worship the Sun God Ra. In short, they engage in ordinary activities. Here, you will also visit a typical ancient Egyptian temple, be invited into the homes of a poor and wealthy Egyptian, explore the market, garden, and shipyard. And finally, you will be able to peek into the tomb of Tutankhamun — shh, how many secrets does it hide?
Cairo Citadel and Mosque of Muhammad Ali
The next stop on the itinerary is the famous Saladin Citadel. For 9 centuries, this fortress has towered over the Old City serving as a monument to the Islamic world. You will also visit the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mosque was built under the influence of the Istanbul school but ended up causing disputes with the Turkish side. You will enjoy its quiet majestic halls and admire the city's landscapes from bird's eye view.
Pyramids of Giza
The Pyramids of Giza hold the title of one of the wonders of the world — and you will see them with your own eyes. We will climb the famous Pyramid of Khufu: touch its ancient stones and imagine the times of its construction (the experience of being transported to Ancient Egypt will help you with this). I will tell you how the pharaohs and their queens lived when the idea of building the pyramids arose and how they differ from each other. You will see the famous Great Sphinx and the lower temple of Pharaoh Khafre. And of course, take splendid photos for memory.
