About this experience
Being in Bhaktapur means seeing an ancient Himalayan city that was the capital of the Kathmandu Valley. Bhaktapur has preserved not only its unique appearance, but also the traditional way of life of the Newars - the indigenous people of the valley. You will visit the key places of the city and feel its amazing atmosphere - it seems to remain unchanged for centuries.
What to Expect
Vakupati Temple from the 17th century, dedicated to the god Vishnu. In addition to the traditional altar and Garuda statues, the temple has one special feature - it is believed that a short rest in it helps to get rid of back pain.
Stroll through the streets of Bhaktapur with their endless Buddhist stupas, statues of deities, and altars of exquisite workmanship, adorned with flowers. Each of these works of art has a long history, and the deep symbolism reveals the philosophical attitude of the locals towards life and death.
The atmosphere of the ancient city. It seems that the whole Bhaktapur breathes grace and peace, and work here also flows unhurriedly. We will visit authentic workshops - especially those where clay products are made. Along the way, we will stop to taste the local dessert ju-ju-dou.
Handmade paper factory - we will visit it if at that time all the workers do not leave for another festival, wedding, or colorful procession. For the Newars, traditions are sacred, and business can wait: eternity lies ahead.
Durbar Square, where 33 worship objects are located. They are made in different architectural styles and from different historical periods, starting from the 13th century. Perhaps that is why the square is entirely included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The Golden Gate. Passing through it, we will find ourselves in front of the Palace of 55 Windows and admire the delicate wood carvings with which it is decorated.
Taumadhi Square with the tallest pagoda in Nepal - the five-story Nyatopola Temple, each floor of which corresponds to one of the five elements of creation - earth, water, fire, air, and space.
