During the excursion in Bishkek, we will delve into several key periods in its development, preserved in the buildings: the 30s-40s, 40s-60s, 60s-90s, and modern times. You will get acquainted with projects of Soviet Constructivism, Art Nouveau, Stalinist Empire, and eclecticism. And you will find keys to the past and present of the capital in architectural styles.
What to Expect
We will talk about the foundation of the future capital of Kyrgyzstan as the fortress of Pishpek, its era under the name Frunze, and the present time. Like everywhere in the world, in our city, each ruler also tried to create their unique style to immortalize themselves in history. Who, what, and how succeeded in Bishkek - we will discuss when we meet!
But the focus, as announced, will be on the turbulent 20th century. You will get acquainted with the main architectural landmarks and discover the places where famous personalities lived. Visit several mysterious and even mystical houses. Find unique frescoes and mosaics by monumentalists from the Soviet period. Explore central Bishkek, as well as visit the most beautiful and mysterious courtyards, about which many do not even suspect.
Our program includes:
- Constructivism - the first restaurant in Bishkek, a printing house, and the main post office
- Modern - National Museum, State Philharmonic, White House
- Stalinist Empire - City Hall, Ministry of Economy, House of Artists, railway station building, National Bank, Constitutional Court
- as well as interesting examples of eclecticism
